How to Perform Y Raise
Hold a dumbbell in each hand and hinge forward slightly at the hips, or lie face down on an incline bench for added support. Let your arms hang down with your palms facing each other. With a slight bend in your elbows, raise the dumbbells upward in a “Y” shape until your arms are angled above shoulder height. Focus on squeezing your upper back and shoulder muscles at the top of the movement. Slowly lower the dumbbells back to the starting position with control.
